Smriti is a corporate lawyer licensed to practice in India. Prior to MetaLaw, Smriti was leading the technology, media and general corporate laws advisory practice at Newel Law and specialized in areas of licensing, production, distribution and commercial contracts structuring and negotiations, domestic and international data regulations and intellectual property.
Smriti works closely with the senior management of client organizations advising them on day to day commercial and business decision making. Technology, IP and Licensing. She advises corporates businesses on open-source licensing, structuring, drafting and negotiating their subscription agreements, technology license and development contracts, IP acquisition, services contracts and ancillary documents.
She has worked with the clients and international teams in relation to domestic and cross-border data and privacy regulations. She has drafted terms of use and privacy policies to ensure compliance with the evolving global data regulations.
On a day to day basis, Smriti advise production houses and content creation, development and licensing platforms on their structuring, assignments, licensing and ownership of intellectual property along with any other ancillary requirements.
Smriti also does general corporate advisory & commercial contracts. She advises clients on their day-to-day corporate and operational legal matters including domestic and cross-border business transactions for distribution, manufacture, reselling of products and services, structuring, drafting and negotiating the relevant terms, policies and contracts.
Smriti is a law graduate from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (2010).
